The pools seen in this panorama looked very inviting. Naturally heated by geothermal action and topped up and refreshed by circulating sea water. A natural bathing pool with a view over the Pacific Ocean. There is a Geothermal plant further inland near to the Lava Tree State Monument, which shows that the US is harnessing a small part of the energy here.

Ahalanui Park lies between Isaac Hale Beach Park and the Mackenzie State Recreation Area on the H-137 road, west of Kumukahi Lighthouse. These pools are heated by volcanic heat as water rises into them. One of the advantages of living on an active volcano - naturally heated pools.

Travel and Getting There:
Follow the I-11 to Kea'au, then the H-130 to Pahoa followed by the 132 towards the Kumukahi Lightouse. Finally take the H-137 west about 4 miles to Ahalanui Park.
