Sadly, the only day I had at Onomea bay was overcast and grey. While this does not make for ideal panoramic photography conditions, it did show one of the more playful natures of the sea here. The jut of rocks here are pocked with chasms and holes and when the waves caught them at the right angle, they made a snorting sound reminiscent of a large animal. Maybe this is where dragons on Hawaii sleep. Somewhere I have a recording of the sound.

Travel and Getting There:
Take the H19 north from Hilo about 4 miles to Papa'ikou and then turn right onto the Old Mamalahoa Way.
