This panorama of the beach at Alum Chine was taken late one windy afternoon. At the height of the summer it is often hard to find a bit of sand between the bodies and towels so popular are the beaches around Bournemouth. You can see people on the beach if you zoom in on the satellite picture of the beach. On this day there was nearly no-one in sight. The chine behind the beach is a lovely wooded area, and the path rises to West Overcliff Drive. It is quite easy to walk along the promenade back east to Bournemouth Pier or to continue west to Poole and Sandbanks.

Alum Chine is a popular beach in Bournemouth, with numerous hotels and other holiday accommodation located nearby. Like the rest of Bournemouth's beaches, the one at Alum Chine is long and wide with fine sand. There is a restaurant and other facilities next to the beach, a nearby car park and a paddling pool which is popular with children. The beach is within easy access of Bournemouth Center by foot either along the promenade or along West Overcliff Drive, which runs along the top of the cliffs and offers great views of the surrounding area. A land train regularly runs along the beach taking people to Bournemouth Pier and then on to Boscombe Pier. Durley Chine lies between Alum Chine and Bournemouth Pier.
