This panorama of Durley Chine on Bournemouth Beach was taken in the late afternoon. The sun sets behind the cliffs and throws all the beach to the west in silhouette. This is a very popular beach in Bournemouth being so close to Bournemouth Pier. The late afternoon sun illuminates the rowing boats and the beach huts behind them quite well. You can just make out Bournemouth Pier to the left of the shoreline. The dark land descending to the sea to the right is Old Harry Rocks and Studland, whose chalk cliffs continue to rise and fall all the way from there to Weymouth.

Panorama of Durley Chine beach. Durley Chine is the first of the chines west from Bournemouth Pier, followed by Middle Chine and Alum Chine. It is about 10 minutes walk from Bournemouth Pier. The beach here is, like the rest of the beach between Boscombe Pier and Sandbanks Beach, made of fine sand. There are food and drink outlets at Durley Chine and the beach train, which serves many of the chines along Bournemouth Beach, stops here. There is a car park at Durley Chine and cliff steps ascend to West Overcliff from where you get panoramic views all along the beaches and over to Studland.
