The panoramic picture shows the great variety of stalls found at the market. The market is held at Farifield, just south of Dorchester town center, close to both bus stops and railway stations. In all there are over 500 pitches, 150 of which are in a covered space which used to be the cattle market. At Dorchester market you will find almost everything from superb local farm produce in the farmers market, through to second hand items and antiques. Organisationally, the market is managed by the district council's Property Services Division on behalf of Dorchester Markets Joint Committee, which is made up of representatives from both West Dorset District Council and Dorchester Town Council.Travel Directions and Getting There: Dorchester Market is in an area just south of the town center boundaried by Fairfield Road, Maumbury Road and Weymouth Avenue. Dorchester is on the A35, which runs from Poole (24 miles) to Dorchester then then continues west towards [[719,Bridport]] (16 miles) and [[713,Lyme Regis]] (26 miles). Dorchester is also linked to [[1044,Weymouth]] and [[1073,Portland]] (about 9 miles) to the south by the A354, to Yeovil (about 20 miles) in the north by the A37 and also to [[1046,Sherborne]] (20 miles) by the A352.
