The Beach at Pevensey - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT

In the early 1800's Martello Towers were built along this coastline as defence from attack by Napoleon. Nowadays this beach on the Sussex coast protects an area containing over 10,000 properties which are at risk from flooding if the defences are breached. In Roman times the sea reached Pevensey Castle, now 2 miles inland, but it has since retreated.
