This panorama was taken from the viewing point near to The Heights Hotel at the top of Portland Bill. From here you get a fantastic panoramic view back over Weymouth, Weymouth bay and the surrounding coastline. Portland is linked to Weymouth and the rest of Dorset by Chesil Beach, a natural shingle spit a couple of miles long. From this point it is easy to see why the coastline here is so popular with sailing and yachting and why Weymouth has been selected as the location for the sailing events of the 2012 Olympics.
