Portland Bill Lighthouse - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panoramic picture was taken to the right (west) of the the lighthouse on the southern tip of Portland Bill. The area beside it is very exposed and often windy. The lighthouse has been essential in guiding shipping around this part of the coastline for many years. The views from here are fantastic. It is possible to ascend the lighthouse on a guided tour, and to explore the cliffs surrounding it. Many people take photographs of the waves crashing against the shoreline during storms. This whole area is a favorite for sailing, fishing and diving, as there are many coves and beaches along the Jurassic Coast.
