Upwey - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This was the second time I was in Upwey, and decided that the picturesque little village called out to be photographed. It was a restful place to be in the mid morning sun. This picture was taken from the graveyard of the church of St. Laurence.
Upwey - FURTHER INFORMATION
Upwey - Weymouth visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Upwey' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Dorset.
Upwey is a small quiet village a little north of Weymouth and south of Dorchester in a leafy valley along the River Wey. The village has a small visitor and craft centre and is often used by walkers and hikers as a starting point for exploring the walks in the surrounding valley. The town has a Wishing Well at the spring of the River Wey. It is sometimes called Upway, though this is a misspelling. At the village is an old Mill House dating from 1802 and the church of St. Laurence built in the 13th century.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Take the A354 north from Weymouth (south from Dorchester). About 4 miles north of Weymouth take Stottingway Street east which descends down a hill before taking a sharp turn north towards Upwey.
