Boscombe Beach - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
There was a lot of building activity at Boscombe pier at the time this panoramic image was taken. The pier is being rebuilt and there are a number of cranes along the cliff top as new hotels and apartments are being developed. This was a windy day, so windy that sand was being blown along the beach at nearly knee level. Hence the beach is nearly empty.
Boscombe Beach - FURTHER INFORMATION
Boscombe Beach - Bournemouth visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Boscombe Beach' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Dorset.
A panorama taken from Boscombe Beach to the left of Boscombe Pier. This area is being redeveloped, and there are plans to build an artificial surfing reef in the area. The cliffs are lined with numerous hotels and apartments, while the beach is lined with new beach huts. Boscombe Beach lies between Bournemouth Beach and Hengistbury Head. In actual fact the sandy beach stretches almost all the way from Hengistbury Head in Christchurch to Sandbanks Beach on the outside of Poole Harbour. A beach train runs from Boscombe Pier along the beach past West Undercilff and on to Bournemouth Pier. The train then continues towards Sandbanks serving the chines on the way.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
A park and ride service is in operation between Boscombe bus station and Boscombe Pier during the summer months. There is limited parking at the pier itself along the promenade.
