Walton Burn Waterfall - FURTHER INFORMATION
Walton Burn Waterfall - Cumbernauld visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Walton Burn Waterfall' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Strathclyde.
The Walton Burn is a small stream that flows the Red Burn and then into the Forth and Clyde Canal just north of Cumbernauld in Strathclyde. As the burn enters Dunns wood it flows over a 25m escarpment creating the waterfall pictured here. A tunnel then takes the stream beneath the Cumbernauld-Falkirk railway line in Dunns Wood.
Next to the tunnel is Castlecary (or Castle Cary), a a fifteenth-century tower house on one of the principal forts of the Roman Antonine Wall. The tower of Castlecary is about 12m high, made from rock collected from a nearby Roman fort.
