This entrance is at the southern end to the prmenade that leads to the Arc de Triomf. Across the road there is a small obelisk surrounded by statues. More statues adorn the tops of the gate walls. The Natural History Museum is in the building to the right of the gates within the park itself. It can be seen behind the trees in this picture.Entrance to Parc de la Ciutadella - Further InformationThe northwest entrance to the Parc de la Ciutadella in Barcelona is on Passeig de Pujades, a short walk from the Arc de Triomf. The Park de la Ciutadella also contains a number of museums, fountains and various open spaces. The Catalan Parliament building is found in the center of the park. Notable sights and places of interest within the park include the Natural History and Zoological Museum (Museu de Zoologia Histoiria Natural), Cascada fountain, with Aurora's chariot, The Geological Museum, the Hivernacle and Umbracle plant houses, the Placa de les Armes in front of the Parliament building. Barcelona Zoo is found at the southern end of the park.As the name suggests, the history of the Parc de la Ciutadella is linked to a citadel. In 1714 Philip V captured Barcelona after a 13 month siege and built the larges citadel in Europe on the site to keep the city in check. The building was much hated by the locals, and destroyed between 1869 and 1878.
