La Cascada Fountain - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panorama of La Cascada in the Parc de la Ciutadella was taken from the edge of the small pond into which the waters fall. The gives a central view of the Baroque structure and the staircases leading up either side to the Arch at the top of the fountain. On top of the arch is a horse drawn chariot about to take off. The pond itself is tiered, and numerous winged beasts and griffins guard parts of the fountain.

In front of the Cascada is a small pond into which the fountains tumble. There is a second panoramic picture taken from the steps of the Cascada fountain.
La Cascada was designed by designed by Josep Fontsère, assisted by Antoni Gaudí, who was still a student at the time. It is loosely based on the Trevi Fountain in Rome.
