Esporles (Esporlas) Square - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panorama was taken from the square. There are more picturesque parts of the town, but it is nice to see the center for what it is. There are some lovely walks from here and a stunning hotel set high in the mountains at the back of the town (La Posada del Marqués) with a restaurant overlooking the Bay of Palma set high on a balcony.

Esporles is one of the larger villages on the road north from Palma towards the northwest coast of Mallorca. This quiet town is on a long main road connecting Palma to the northern road between Deia and Valdemossa. The town square is surrounded by a number of peaceful cafes and restaurants which make for a relaxing atmosphere away from the crowded beach resorts of Mallorca.
Esporles rests in the foothills of the Sierra de Tramuntana de Mallorca mountains. This is an ancient village with a long history of agriculture and farming. Today, tourism plays an increasing part in the economy, and there are numerous villas and apartments available to rent on a self catering basis. The village also has a couple of hotels. Esporles is a great place to use as a base for a holiday in Mallorca, it is quiet and relaxing, but only about 20 minutes from the center of Palma. There are several beaches nearby, including Palma Nova beach and Santa Ponsa is further north along the coast.
Many people come to explore the mountains and the numerous walks throughout the surrounding woodlands, forests and orange groves. Nearby are also the hermitage of Maristella and the 10th century seaside village of Banyalbufar.
