This panoramic image is taken from the eastern edge of the Plaça de les Armes looking at the Parlament de Catalunya building. In the opposite direction is the pond in the middle of the Plaça de les Armes which contains a famous statue known as El Desconsol (Grief), made by Josep Llimona in 1903.

The Parlament of Catalunya building is in the former arsenal of the Citadel that occupied the site. The building became the seat of the Catalan Parliament in 1932, after it was refurbished as a museum. It stands to the east of the Plaça de les Armes in the middle of the Parc de la Ciutadella. The parliament building was designed by the Flemish engineer Prosper de Verboom. It was closed in 1939 during the time of the Franco regime and remained closed until 1980.

Metro: Arc de Triomf metro station. The Parc de la Ciutadella is also very close to the Estacio Terme o de Franca railway station.
