Passeig de les Cascades - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
A panorama from the Passeig de les Cascades in Barcelona. This is on the approach to the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya from Plaça Espanya and gives a good viewpoint from which to admire both the museum building further up the hill and down over the city. There are escalators that run up and down the hill, which makes passage to the different levels much easier than the older steps. At the time this panoramic image was taken the fountains were not working, leaving the area relatively silent and calm. These fountains make for spectacular nocturnal displays, which are a tourist attraction in their own right. The cascading nature of the fountains is clearly seen in the satellite image of the Google map of Barcelona as a series of semi-circular pools.
