This panoramic image was taken from the Plaça del Marques de la Foronda. This square at the bottom of the cascade of fountains and pools that descend down Montjuic from the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. Stairways and escalators take visitors up the hill to each of the tiers towards the museum itself.
The panorama shows the museum set high on the hill. In the foreground to the south are the fountains known as the 'Cascades' which descend from the Passieg des Cascades as a series of semi-circular pools. From here the path continues up to Mirador del Palau Nacional, the road which runs along the front of the museum itself. To the north lies the Font Montjuïc and then the long Avenu de la Reina Maria Cristina which ends at Plaça Espanya.
