Google Map Temple de la Sagrada FamiliaPhotographer Description of Temple de la Sagrada FamiliaThis panorama was taken from the very narrow walkway between two towers high up on the western face of the Temple de la Sagrada Familia. Much of the panoramic image shows the structure of the towers, with classical Gaudi elements and mosaics set into the brickwork. The massive cranes rising from the center of the cathedral are a prominent reminder that this is still a work in progress. Between the towers and the cranes are some of the views over Barcelona itself. The tower walkways can get exceedingly windy.Temple de la Sagrada Familia - Further InformationThe Temple de la Sagrada Familia ((Catalan for 'The Holy Family') is the most famous and popular tourist attraction of Barcelona. This Roman Catholic cathedral was started in 1882, and the formal title of the church is the 'Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família'. Barcelona's most famous architect, Antoni Gaudí, worked for over 40 years on the church, devoting the last 15 years of his life entirely to it. The cathedral is still being built, and the interior looks more like a building site than a church. In spite of this the Temple de la Sagrada Familia still attracts thousands of tourists each year who make the pilgrimage to wonder at the bizzare architecture and mount the tall towers to see the spectacular views over the city.Address: Travel and Getting There: Comments and Reviews.
