Plaça de Toros Monumental - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panorama shows the inside of the bull ring of Plaça de Toros Monumental in Barcelona. The seating terraces are very steep, and it is quite a climb to get up there. The bull ring has been turned into a minor tourist attraction and it is now ticketed to get in. It contains a museum, but the arena is almost a museum in itself.

The Plaça de Toros Monumental is a short distance from the Temple de la Sagrada Familia and the Plaça de Tetuan in Barcelona on teh junction of Carrer de la Marina and Via de les Corts Catalanes This is the bull ring of Barcelona. Built in 1915 by Ignasi Mas i Morell, this neo-Arabic folly is a strange red brick structure crowned with 4 blue and white ceramic egg like forms. Bull fighting has never really taken off in Barcelona, and the Plaça de Toros Monumental is not heavily used. Inside is a lackluster museum to bull fighting with matador costumes and other memorabilia. This is an attempt to turn the bull ring into something of a tourist attraction.
