Parc Güell - Main Terrace - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panorama was taken from the front of the Terrace in Parc Guell. From here there is a panoramic view over the park and on over Barcelona. In the foreground is the main entrance square to the park. The two strange buildings either side of the entrance are also designed by Gaudi. The 'spire' of the right hand building is particularly distinctive covered in a Gaudi tile mosaic with a cross on the top. On the horizon, just to the left of the gate building, are the two towers of the tallest buildings in Spain, one of which is the Art Hotel. In the other direction is the huge plaza of the terrace. Off to the right of the terrace is the spire of 'la Torre Rosa', the house in which Antoni Gaudí lived.

This panorama was taken from Main Terrace of Parc Güell and shows the fantastic panoramic view over the rest of the park and Barcelona. Lining the front of the terrace is the famous curved and tiled benches designed by Gaudi, whose continuously changing mosaic patterns help the benches to dry of quickly after rain. Gaudi use the impressions left by naked women sitting on blocks of clay to shape the curvature of the benches. Rows of nodules and bumps near the back of the benches prevent people from sitting too far back and getting wet. Gaudi curved the benches if this terrace in such a way that even though many people sit here, it is still possible to have a reasonably private conversation.
