Parc Güell - Panoramic Viewpoint - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT

There is a cross on the highest point of Parc Guell which offers spectacular panoramic views over Barcelona and the rest of the park. Most people come here to visit the gardens laid out by Antoni Gaudi, and far fewer make it to this part of the park. Granted the walk from the gardens up to here is steep, long and lacking in shade, but the view is worth the effort. Barcelona stretches out in front of you and behind are the mountains.

Parc Güell - Panoramic Viewpoint - FURTHER INFORMATION

Parc Güell - Panoramic Viewpoint - Barcelona visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Parc Güell - Panoramic Viewpoint' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Catalonia.

This panorama shows the amazing panoramic view over Barcelona from the cross on the hightest point of Parc Güell. This park is most famous for the gardens that were designed by Antoni Gaudi. Both the open park and the gardens are well worth a visit. The cross stands on top of a mound at the end of a long circular winding path that snakes it's way up the highest hill.

Far to the sothwest is the coastline. Here the tower of the Art Hotel at the Olympic Village rises above the horizon next to the Port Olympic Marina. To the right of this is the historic centre of Barcelona, focussed around La Ramblas, Barcelona's most famous streets. Further to the right is the hill of Montjuic on which the famous Castell de Montjuic stands. In the midst of all the buildings between here and the coast are the grand spires of the Temple de la Sagrada Familia cathedral, one of the most famous landmarks of Barcelona and another hugely popular tourist attraction.

There are other panoramas from around Parc Güell showing the impact of Gaudin, including the Entrance Courtyard, the famous Dragon Fountain and the panoramic views over the park from the Terrace. Tourist information about the park and other Gaudi attractions in Barcelona are available from the Tourist Information Office in Plaça de Catalunya.
