Brugge (Bruges in English) is the largest and capital city of the province of West Flanders (West-Vlaanderen) in Belguim. It is famous for both the port of Zeebrugge, which is connected to the town by a long canal, and for the historical city center, which has been declared a UNESCO 'World Heritage Site'. The port made Brugge very prosperous, and it became an important cultural center.
Nowadays Brugge has become an important tourist destination in Belgium, and is filled with numerous museums and theatres. One of the most famous buildings of Brugge is the 13C Belfry (Halletoren ), which is 83m high and contains 47 bells. This stands on the edge of the south side of the Market square (Markt).

Travel Directions and Getting There
Brugge is about 100km from Brussels and 50km from Gent. From Brussels take the A10 (E40) to Brugge. This road passes Gent.
