This panorama sows the Rosher Bayard of Dinant, the famous rocky needle that rises sharply above the town to a height of 40m. The are named after a legendary horse called Bayard which belonged to the four sons of Haimon. Legend has it that the horse and it's riders crossed the river in one jump when fleeing from Charlemagne and split rocky needle with its hooves. Truth is a little more dull, and the split in the famous Rocher Bayard was created by blasting a road through it in 1698. The panoramic image also the canal of Dinant, and the quaint buildings that line it. The new bridge across the canal is also visible, ensuring that modern visitors no longer have to depend on horses to get from one side to another.
Travel Directions and Getting There:
Dinant is about 30km from Namur. From Namur take the N92 followed by the N96 roads.
