Chinatown - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT

A panorama of Chinatown in Manchester taken from Faulkner Street and showing the Chinese Imperial Arch. The panoramic image was taken late in the day on a weekday, not the busiest time for this part of Manchester, but at least it was possible to put a tripod down.

Chinatown - FURTHER INFORMATION

Chinatown - Manchester visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Chinatown' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Greater Manchester.

Chinatown in Manchester is just behind Piccadilly Plaza, close to the Piccadilly Gardens, around George Street and Charlotte Street, off Mosley Street behind the City Art Gallery. The area is very busy in Sundays when traders from all over England come to stock up on goods and supplies for restaurants and shops nationwide. The area is not restricted to just mainland Chinese, and there are restaurants and shops Thai, Malaysian, Singaporean, Nepalese, Italian, French and Japanese goods and food.

This panoramic image was taken from Faulkner Street, showing some of the local restaurants and shops. At eastern end of the road is the The Imperial Chinese Archway, given to the City from the Chinese people. This is the only decorative arch of its kind in Europe.
