Manchester Piccadilly Station is one of 3 main Railway Stations in Manchester. It is the northern terminus of Virgin's flagship route to London and offers direct services to other major UK cities, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Cardiff and Norwich.It opened as the London Road station in 1842, and since then has been a major gateway to the north west. In the nearly 160 years since opening, the station has been adapted many times to cope with changing travel needs. The station handles over 55,000 passengers and 1,000 trains every day. From this arrival point it is easy to get to the center of Manchester. The Metrolink tram runs from here to Piccadilly Gardens, the main tram and bus station that provides transport links throughout Greater Manchester and to Victoria and Deansgate Railway Stations.
