The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford first opened on the 24th May 1683 and was the world's first University museum. The full name is the 'Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology'. Highlights of the museum include the Alfred Jewel, a death mask of Oliver Cromwell and the Messiah Stradivarius, a violin made by Antonio Stradivari.
The Macdonald Randolph Hotel is also on this road. This hotel is reputed to be one of the best hotels in Oxford.
