Parkers Piece - FURTHER INFORMATION
Parkers Piece - Cambridge visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Parkers Piece' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Cambridgeshire.
This panorama was taken from Parkers Piece in Cambridge. This is a large open green just south of Emmanuel College. The famous University Arms Hotel stands on the northwest corner of Parkers Piece. In the middle of Parkers Piece where the paths across the green meet is a single solitary lamp post, known as 'Reality Checkpoint', which can be seen in this panoramic picture. This is said to be the earliest electric lamp in Cambridge. Parker's Piece is not associated with any of Cambridge University College, but is named after a college cook, Edward Parker, who obtained the rights to farm on it after Trinity College sold the land to the city in 1613 in exchange for most of Garrett Hostel Green.
