Notre Dame de Paris - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panorama shows the interior of the Notre Dame de Paris, the Roman Catholic cathedral in Pairs. Notre Dame is very dark inside, and the only way to take the pictures needed for this panoramic image was the balance the camera on the back of one of the chairs near the front of the nave and hope for the best. It took a very long time to get photos without too many people in the way. The long exposures needed produce the shadows and blurs as people are moving.

Notre Dame de Paris (Our Lady of Paris) is one of the most visited tourist attractions of Paris. The massive Gothic cathedral stands on the Île de la Cité, the birth place of Paris, and is more commonly referred to simply as 'Notre Dame' (Our Lady).
Notre Dame still functions as a Roman Catholic cathedral and is the seat of the Archbishop of Paris. It is widely considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. The cathedral was badly damaged during the French Revolution and turned into a 'Temple to Reason' in 1793, with the church being used as a warehouse to store food. It was saved from destruction by architect Viollet-le-Duc who began a 25 year long restoration programme.
