Place du Parvis Notre-Dame - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Notre Dame de Paris is so tall that I had to stand quite a distance back in Place du Parvis Notre-Dame to get the whole height of the cathedral in. This panoramic was taken late in the afternoon, and the plaza was packed with tourists. I intended to go up the tower to take a panorama over the Parisian skyline from the top, but the queues were far too long. Maybe next time.

The Place du Parvis Notre-Dame is the square or plaza in front of the main entrance to Notre Dame de Paris (Our Lady of Paris), one of the most visited tourist attractions of Paris. The massive Gothic cathedral stands on the Île de la Cité, the birth place of Paris, and is more commonly referred to simply as 'Notre Dame' (Our Lady).
Notre Dame is 130m long with two 69 meters tall towers. The spire was added in the 19th century by Viollet-le-Duc and reaches 90m. It is possible to ascend the north tower to get an amazing panoramic view over Paris. Queues are likely to be very long. The Prefecture de Police is on the north edge of the square and the Musée de Notre-Dame de Paris - Crypte archéologique is to the north.
