Pont de la Tournelle - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
The Pont de la Tournelle has little alcoves near either end that protrude a little from the pavement. This panorama was taken from the one on the southern end of the bridge, on the side nearest the Ile de la Cite. The panoramic image shows the view downriver to the other island and shows the outline of the Notre Dame.
Pont de la Tournelle - FURTHER INFORMATION
Pont de la Tournelle - Paris visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Pont de la Tournelle' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Paris.
The Pont de la Tournelle links the south side of the Ile St Louis, one of the two small islands in the middle of the River Seine in Paris, with the Qai de la Tournelle. On the east side of the bridge the cutwater rises 14 m high and is topped by a 5.30 m high statue of Saint Genevieve, the patron saint of Paris, as seen in this panorama. The statue was made by Paul Landowski.
There are paths along the river below the Qai de la Tournelle which give a different perspective of the two islands. This panoramic image akso shows the the Île de la Cité further downriver, and the outline of the famous Notre Dame de Paris cathedral which clearly soars above the other buildings on the island there. The next bridge downriver is the Pont de l'Archeveche which links the Quai de Montebello with Île de la Cité. The Pont St Louis links the two islands together, joining the Île de la Cité on the corner of Square Jean XIII. The next bridge upriver is the Pont de Sully.
