Palais de Justice - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This is a hand held panorama shot within the courtyard of the Palais de Justice on Ile de la Cite in Paris. Security here is very tight, and I asked permission before standing in the courtyard pointing a camera in every direction. This former palace is most famous for the Sainte Chapelle, a spectacular church that is well worth the effort of visiting.

The Palais de Justice is one of the courts of Justice in Paris. It is located on the Île de la Cité, quite close to Notre Dame. The Palais de Justice contains numerous courts including the Paris court of large claims (tribunal de grande instance), Paris correctional court, the Paris Court of Appeal and the the French Cour de cassation.
The Palais de Justice is built on the site of the former royal palace of Saint Louis and the famous Sainte Chapelle with it's vast stained glass windows stands in the grounds. Security to see Sainte Chapelle is accordingly very tight. Also within the grounds is the Conciergerie, which used to be a prison, and was where Marie Antoinette was imprisoned before being executed on the guillotine. It is now a museum. The complex used to be called the Palais de la Cité, and had been a seat of power since Roman times.
