The Place des Invalides is a vast area. I would have liked to take this panorama from the roundabout in the middle, but thought this might be frowned upon. The Hotel des Invalides is to the north, and the dome of the Eglise du Dome rises above it. To the south lies the Esplade des Invalides which leads to the River Seine and the Alexandre III Bridge. The Satellite picture of Paris on this Google map clearly shows the layout of the area. Across the rive in the distance is the roof of the Grand Palais.

The Place des Invalides lies just in front of the Hotel des Invalides complex in Paris. This complex contains numerous museums and attractions including the Eglise du Dôme which contains the remains of Napoleon, the Eglise des Soldats and the Musée de l'Armé. Other museums in the complex include the Musée des Plans-reliefs, Musée d'Histoire Contomporaine (Museum of Contemporary History) and the Musée de l'Ordre et del la Libération. Nearby is the Musée Rodin.
