Square Villemin is a public square and park in Paris next to the Gar de l'Est railway station. It is bordered on the east by the Canal St Martin, close to the Square de Recollets lock. At the west end of Square Villemin is a formal planted garden (see the Square Villemin garden panorama), while at the east end, as seen in this panorama, the park is much more open and used as a plying field. This used to be the site of the Villemin Hospital, built in 1870 to treat wounded returning from conflict. The entrance to the hospital is still visible on the Rue de Recollets which runs along the southern edge of Square Villemin.
