Place Vendôme - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
360 panorama of Place Vendome. At the time I took this panorama there was a demonstration of some kind outside the Ministry of Justice on the square. You can just about make out the crowd of people in the photograph. Sadly, the Column Vendome was too tall to fit in the picture completely. There is a statue of Napoleon on the top.

Place Vendôme in Paris is just south of the Palais Garnier (Opéra Garnier), east of Église de la Madeleine and north of the Jardin des Tuileries. To the east of the square are the Palais Royal and the Louvre, all top attractions of Paris. The center of the Place VendômeLa is dominated by the Colonne Vendôme column, which was fashioned after Trajan's Column in Rome and erected by Napoleon to to celebrate the victory of Austerlitz using brass from captured cannon.
The square is famous for the luxury hotels that are found here. These include the Hôtel Ritz Paris, (the original Ritz Hotel), the Park Hyatt Vendome Hotel and the Bristol Hotel (now called the Vendôme, and used by Edward VII). The mMinistry of Justice has occupied the west side of Place Vendôme since 1718.
