Tailevu Point and Qoma Island

Photographer Description of Tailevu Point and Qoma Island

360 Panorama taken from the beach near to Lawaki Village. The beach here is made of fine black sand and a short distance away is Qoma Island. The shoreline is fringed with palm trees. This is a typical brochure picture of Fiji, but there is no hotel here.

Tailevu Point and Qoma Island - Further Information

Tailevu Point is on the east coast of Viti Levu in Fiji, close to the village of Lawaki. A narrow water channel separates Tailevu Point from Qoma Island, which lies just off shore. The scene here is typical of that used to sell Fiji to tourists - a sandy beach lined with coconut palm trees, an offshore tropical island and blue skies. There are no facilities or amenities at this beach, though the tourist Takalana Bay Resort and Natalei-ra Eco Lodge are just a few km away.

The Queen Victoria School occupies the hillside overlooking Tailevu Island at Matavatucou.

Travel Directions and Getting There:
Lawaki is about 51 km north of Nausori, and about 60 km from Suva. A bus runs from Suva through to this area. Much of the last 20 km is on dirt track.
