Waikiki from Kapahulu Groin - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panorama was taken from a wall jutting out from Kuhio Beach in Waikiki. The panorama gives a good view back onto the high rise hotels that line the beaches in Waikiki. At the land end of the jetty is the Park Shore Hotel. Water in the walled off swimming area was constantly being replenished by waves breaking over the wall.
Waikiki from Kapahulu Groin - FURTHER INFORMATION
Waikiki from Kapahulu Groin - Oahu visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Waikiki from Kapahulu Groin' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Hawaii.
Kapahulu Groin separates Kuhio Beach from Kapiolani Beach and Queen's Surf Beach in Waikiki on Oahu island, Hawaii. The groin joins the coast at the western end of Kapiolani Park, near to Honolulu Zoo. Further to the east is Queen's Surf Beach. The beaches of Waikiki all run into one continuous stretch of sand along the shore from Diamond Head to the Hilton Lagoon. Only part of this stretch is actually properly called Waikiki Beach.
Much of the beach here is quite narrow and lined with numerous high rise hotels. This panorama shows the easternmost hotels in the sector, finishing with the Park Shore Hotel. Other hotels visible on the skyline, progressing left in the image, include the Resort Quest Waikiki Hotel, Waikiki Beach Marriot, Foster Tower Hotel and the Pacific Beach Hotel. There are nearly 100 hotels in Waikiki itself.
