Waikiki Beach - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panorama was taken at about 4pm on Waikiki Beach. This is just about the busiest section of the beach along the whole stretch. At this time of day in February it often begins to cloud over, and sometimes rains. This narrow stretch of sand is dominated by the numerous hotels behind.
Waikiki Beach - FURTHER INFORMATION
Waikiki Beach - Oahu visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Waikiki Beach' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Hawaii.
Waikiki Beach, on the southern side of Oahu is the most famous beach in Hawaii. It is one of the beaches of Waikiki in Honolulu and what most people think of when thinking about Hawaii. Waikiki Beach itself is actually quite a small section of the artificial sandy stretch that runs from the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel on the western end of Waikiki to the Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel and W Hotel on the eastern end. The prominent hotels that line Waikiki Beach itself and can be seen in this panorama are the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Hotel, the Sheraton Moanna Surfinder and the Aston Waikiki Beachside Hotel.
Waikiki Beach occupies the central section of sand. To the far west it starts with the Duke Kahanamoku Beach Park, and then moving east comes the Fort De Russy Beach Park and Gray's Beach before arriving at Waikiki Beach itself. From here there is Kuhio Beach with protected swimming areas, Kapiolani Beach, Queens Surf Beech and finally Kaimana Beach. The latter three are backed by Kapiolani Beach Park, behind which is the larger Kapiolani Regional Park.
