James Craig Tall Ship - Bow - FURTHER INFORMATION
James Craig Tall Ship - Bow - Sydney visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'James Craig Tall Ship - Bow' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from New South Wales.
Panorama taken from the bow of the James Craig, a working tall ship usually berthed at Wharf 7, Pyrmont in Sydney harbour. At the time this panorama was taken, she was berthed at the National Maritime Museum near to Pyrmont Bridge and from here, offered commanding views over Darling Harbour to the skyline of the central business district.
Built in 1874 in Sunderland, UK and after a colourful life as a cargo ship on the trans-Tasmanian trade routes hauling coals and fuel oils she lay abandoned for 40 years after breaking her moorings and beaching during a storm.
The Sydney Heritage Fleet volunteers painstakingly restored her in the late 20th century to seaworthy condition and she is now both a fully operational, sea-going living museum and a popular visitor attraction at both her many ports of call on educational voyages and on chartered cruises.
