Google Map Sigmund Freud MuseumSigmund Freud MuseumSigmund Freud Museum, ViennaSigmund Freud was born in Moravia in 1856, and came to Vienna to study the University of Vienna. He spent almost 50 years living at 19 Berggasse, in the Ninth (Alsergrund) district of Vienna. It was here that he did most of his study and wrote all his works. He left Vienna for London in 1938 to escape the Nazis and died a year later. His youngest daughter, Anna Freud, also lived and practiced as a child psychoanalyst in the same residence. She donated the house, which became the Sigmund Freud Museum of Vienna in 1971. The rooms of the house now contain various displays, of particular note are those in the former study, consulting room and waiting room. Some of the original furniture and personal items remain here, though most have either been sold or moved to the Freud Museum in London.
