Cicarija mountains are part of a long mountainous land mass which cross Istria and which separates this triangular peninsula from the rest of Croatia. Cicarija range is in the NW and the Ucka range in the SE.
A popular destination for climbers, Cicarija area is also explored for its rich and varied indigenous plants which in turn support a diverse habitat for wildlife. This makes it a popular region for photographers and nature-lovers who enjoy venturing into the wilds to spot rare birds of prey soaring high in the skies over the mountain peaks, or simply taking in the panoramic views across this rugged and unspoilt wilderness. Amongst the forests are a wealth of Chestnut and Laurel trees, while in the wild-flower meadows and valley floors you can find Primula, Daffodil, Carniola lilly, Meadow saffron and Gentian making colourful displays.
