This panorama was taken from inside the long sea arch that joins the two beaches at Cathedral Cove. It is kind of a mix between a sea arch and a cave. Getting through the entrances can mean racing the incoming waves at high tide if you don't want to get wet. Steps come down from the cliff to the beach on the southern side of the cave. Cathedral Cove is part of the Te Whanganui-A-Hei marine reserve on the Coromandel Peninsula. This sea arch links Cathedral Cove with Mare's Leg Cove. Cathedral Cove is one of the 'must see' tourist attractions on the Coromandel Peninsula. Access through the sea arch may mean dodging waves or getting wet when the tide is in.
Travel Directions and Getting There:
Walk from the Cathedral Cove car park at the end of Grange Road near Hahei. Also accessible by sea kayak and boat.
