Gemstone Bay - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT

Gemstone Bay is on the way to Cathedral Cove. It is a tiny, rocky bay without a beach. The descent to it is from the Cathedral Cove coastal path. It is well known locally as being good for snorkelling. If you zoom in on the satellite view you can see the path that continues to Cathedral Cove itself.

Gemstone Bay - FURTHER INFORMATION

Gemstone Bay is part of the Te Whanganui-A-Hei marine reserve in Coromandel to Hahei. It is the first of three coves passed on the walk to Cathedral Cove. Gemstone Bay is about 15 minutes walk from the carpark near Hahei. This is a rocky cove without a beach, used mainly for snorkelling. The next bay along is Stingray Bay where, as the name suggests, you may be able to see stingrays in the water.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
