A panorama taken from the lookout over the coastline at the trail head to Cathedral Cove, next to the car park. Even from here the coastline is striking. From here a path winds up and down the cliffs for an hour to get to Cathedral Cove, passing numerous other coves on the way.

Cathedral Cove is part of the Te Whanganui-A-Hei marine reserve in Coromandel close to Hahei. On the way to Cathedral Cove, the path also passes Gemstone Bay and then Stingray Bay, themselves less will known attractions. It then passes through some fields before descending down to Mare's Leg Cove. At the right hand end of this cove (near the stairs down the cliff) is a natural sea arch / cave that leads through to Cathedral Cove. The walk takes about an hour each way.

Turn left of Hahei Beach Road onto Grange Road as you are coming into Hahei, and follow this to the car park at the end.
