Coastal Path to Cathedral Cove - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Having passed both Gemstone Bay and Stingray bay, the path to Cathedral Bay enters an open space on the top of the cliffs. From here, as shown in this panorama, there is a good view not only of the ocean, but also of the surrounding undulating land.

Cathedral Cove is part of the Te Whanganui-A-Hei marine reserve on the Coromandel Peninsula close to Hahei. This panorama shows part of the coastal path between Stingray Bay and Mare's Leg Cove where it passes over some hills and through a field. It is one of the few open parts of the path on the walk. From here the path descends again through trees to Mare's Leg Cove, from which you pass through a natural sea arch to Cathedral Cove itself. The path can clearly be seen on the satellite view of the Google map on high zoom.
