Cooks Beach is about 2.7km long. A curved beach of fine sand sloping gently into a picturesque bay, part of which is a protected marine reserve. These features are part of the reason that Cooks Beach is a very popular travel destination in Coromandel. The long, sandy beach curves round and is lined with picnic areas. Cooks beach. There is another panorama from the east end of Cooks Beach. To the west is Shakespeare Cliff and to the east is the the Purangi River picnic area and park. Purangi also offers boat launching facilities.
Other nearby attractions include Cathedral Cove, Hahei Beach, Hot Water Beach and Whitianga.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
From the 25 highway, take the Hot Water Beach Road and then the Purangi Road to Cooks Beach. The beach is accessed along Marine Parade.
