Purangi Boat Launch - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
A panorama showing the bay and boat launch at Purangi. In the panorama you can see a boat being taken out of the water. It seemed most of the people boating from Purangi were going fishing.

The Purangi Estuary lies at the southern end of Cooks Beach in Coromandel Peninsula, not far from Hahei. Here, near the mouth of the Purangi River, is a boat launch, popular with sea fishing boats that go day fishing in the bay. From here the waters pass the Purangi Reserve, which has a sandy beach and picnic areas, and then out to sea. The Purangi boat launch is usable at low tides.
The Purangi Estury and river are lined with numerous holiday cottages, some of which are only accessible by boat. This includes the very popular Purangi Garden Accommodation, located on the opposite side of the river to Cooks Beach.
Other nearby attractions include Cathedral Cove, Hahei Beach, Hot Water Beach and Whitianga.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Car: From the 25 highway, take the Hot Water Beach Road and then the Purangi Road to Cooks Beach. Then follow the Captain Cook Road past the Purangi Reserve to the boat lauch.
