The image was taken late in the afternoon.Art Gallery of Western Australia - Further InformationPanorama of the Art Gallery of Western Australia, located in Northbridge and part of the Perth Cultural Centre.Founded in 1895 and rehomed in 1978, the gallery joined with the Library and Museum in 1995 to become the Ministry for Culture and Arts. At any time this gallery can house 15,000 works of art. The exhibitions change regularly as galleries tend to exchange on loan works to allow more people to be able to view them in their locale. In the early 2000's this gallery hosted exhibitions by Rodin, Monet, Max Ernst and has received works on loan from such galleries as the Louvre (Egyptian art), the Tate Gallery (Pre-Raphaelites) and the Amsterdams Historisch Museum (Dutch, Italian and French 17th-19th century renaissance). It also hosts "Year 12 perspectives", a selection of work from graduating high school students and also promotes contemporary work by indigenous artists. This panorama also shows the Centenary Gallery, a smaller building built to emulate the 19th C French Renaissance style, standing across the small pond. Recently restored to house the administrative offices for the main gallery building, this smaller gallery was originally the police and coroners courts for the city of Perth. Comments and Reviews.
