Panorama from a small jetty on the Swan River at the southern end of Blackwall Reach Parade road in Bicton, East Fremantle.A short distance from the East Fremantle Yacht Club, walking out onto this jetty gives an idea why the cruises up the Swan River are so very popular. The scenery along the riverside is idyllic with lots of green lawns, pine trees, small sandy coves and sheltered corners, great conditions to find a quiet spot to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.
The Swan River is said to be the favourite playground of the citizens of Perth. Many different boat-trips leave from Barrack street pier but all with the intention of taking in terrific scenery in typical laid-back style. Wine-tasting cruises and evening dining cruises to take in the sunset in a romantic setting are particularly popular. Spotting the ultra-luxurious homes of the rich and famous along the riverbank is also an alternative sightseeing option!
The Swan River itself here is tidal and the water is brackish, so it is often possible to see dolphins as you dip your toes over the end of the jetty lazily whilst out for a gentle evening stroll or fishing.
