Hay Street Mall - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
It was nearly Christmas time when I took this panorama, as can bee seen from all the decorations hanging up in the picture. I was mildly surprised by how un-busy all the streets were given the time of year.
Hay Street Mall - FURTHER INFORMATION
Hay Street Mall - Perth visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Hay Street Mall' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Western Australia.
Panorama from the center of Hay Street, taken outside the main entrance to the Mall shopping arcade. Nearby the distinctive red stone spire of the Perth Town Hall can be seen just a little way along the street. Hay Street is also home to the Perth Mint.
This part of Hay Street is pedestrianised making it safe to leisurely wander about and look upwards at the interesting mix of Victorian and shiny glass-and-steel modern architecture. No danger from cars, only of walking into lamp posts!
The old looking building on the southern side of the street is the Tudor-style entrance to the London Court Shopping Arcade. To the north is Plaza Arcade which links to Murray Street shopping malls.
Named after Robert William Hay, this street is now part of the central business district and packs with all kinds of shops, cafes and places to explore. There a good mix of big name chain stores and traditional independent shops so you'll find all the daily essentials as well as unusual gifts and curios.
ADDRESS
Hay Street runs east-west across central Perth.
