London Court Shopping Arcade - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
As can be seen from the big banner over the arcade in the panorama, it was coming up to Christmas when I took these images. So Merry Christmas 2007 from Perth, being from London I could not get used to the lack of crowds or the people wearing shorts and flip-flops ('thongs' to the Australians) in the middle of December.

London Court Arcade joins the pedestrianised part of Hay Street, full of shopping malls. The entrance to the arcade is through a Tudor-style facade arch. The shopping arcade is full of tiny shops reminiscent of an old London street.
Built in 1937 by Claude de Bernales, this arcade runs between Hay Street and St George's Terrace. Wrought iron gates guard each end. At the Hay St end, a large clock chimes every quarter hour while mechanised knights appear and joust with each other! At the St George's Terrace end, another clock shows St George doing battle with the dragon. The facade details on the interior walls show Dick Whittington and Sir Walter Raleigh.
There are a multitude of little shops in here with clothing, jewellery, bags and shoes and also specialised items like antiques, arts and crafts, fine foods and wines. It's a lovely place to browse for unusual items for gifts and souvenirs. There are cafes and rest facilities too.
